Hit space to hear that syllable, change between syllables with left and right buttons on the keyboard, and get it so it sounds right in your ears. Either use the + and – buttons on your keyboard, or use your mouse to drag them around. These are the marks per syllable, so you move them around to time them. It has been added yellow lines in the audio bar between the start and end marks. If you need to hear it, hit R on your keyboard. That’s to split up the syllables (like: timing “ko”, “ko”, “ro” instead of “kokoro”) So put the lines where you want to split, and hit “accept split”. You can now make lines in the white box to the right. Replace the lines with the English translation (do the same for kanji, if you have) 13. Then find where you want to paste it, and right-click, paste. Let’s get the translation up, shall we? Just select all your timed lines(use shift, and select first and last line). Go view>Video+subs view, and hit the “play” button. Now is a good time to play the video to check for any mistakes in timing. Just repeat step 8 and 9 until there is no more lines to time. When you’ve got the line timed, hit the letter G on your keyboard, and you’ll get carried to the next line. In the Audio-Bar, use left- and right-clicking for putting start and end times for the line (where left-clicking is start, and right-clicking is end). Go Audio->Open Audio From Video, and wait… 7. When it asks “Will you load/Unload the associated files”, say no. Copy and paste the lyrics inside notepad. Go to some lyrics site or just google for the lyrics. When we’ve got that, we open it in Aegisub by drag and drop. I cover the basics of timing here to, If you’re decent in that, skip to step 12/13. Use the screenshots as reference to each step. 5 What is karaoke? Get lost^^ *Something at the middle of the page to not make it look so empty* 6 Karaoke Timing This should be no problem. And good imagination =) That’s all you need… I think. 4 What knowledge do I need? Know how to use Aegisub (Have a basic understanding of the ASS override tags (read the manual here: ) Some patience. I warn you that I’m not a “professional”! Carry on at your own risk^^. This Tutorial will cover the main aspects in karaoke(or I hope so, whatever), and hopefully you will learn something new. Why did I make this tutorial? Well, karaoke is fun, so it would be fun to “make” new karaokiers (also, I can irritate them with how good I am ^^). And now, I can say I’m “pretty” good in karaoke. From then on, I’ve pretty much just messed around in Aegisub. Then I moved on to make my own effects entirely. I started with the examples, and simply edited those. Over time, I learned about automation and various ways of doing karaoke. My first karaoke ever was, of course, just a k-timed karaoke (meh, what do you expect). I’ve been doing karaoke and various stuff (like timing and typesetting) for about 9 months now. My name is *sensor*, but on the internet you MAY (it’s a “may”) know me as “Loppene”, “Narunan” or “CXu”. So, the first thing to do will be loading a timed line. Since this might not be too descriptive, I think it’s best if we jump right into a simple example, right? To jump right into it, Karaoke Templater is a script that comes included with Aegisub, and interprets code written special lines called templates, and applies those templates to the lines you specify.
